Quillan is a small town in the Aude region of France 30 miles south of Carcassonne and is a great base for relaxing or exploring the region whether it is walking, cycling, rafting, canoeing, sight seeing, discovering the history or sampling the many local wines. There is a Championship golf course at Carcassonne, and there are also courses at Foix, St Cyprien and Domaine de Falgos. Skiing at Camurac is only 35 minutes away. Ax-Les Thermes and Font Romeu are all within an hours drive. The Mediterranean coast is also just over an hours drive away with excellent sandy beaches to visit including Argeles Sur Mer and Canet Plage. Spain and Andorra are both within a two hour drive.
The area is well served by a number of airports, the nearest being Carcassonne which is 45 minutes away. Also nearby are Perpignan, 1 hour, Toulouse 90 minutes and Girona (Spain) which is a 2 hour drive. There is a frequent train and bus service to Carcassonne and Perpignan from Quillan.
